The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

Whenever a prominent prize-giving event nears, you'll find a clamor for the addition additional classifications to recognize underappreciated efforts and satisfy the passions of followers who have specialized interests.

A fellow writer made the case advocating for terror-themed awards. That would be fantastic. So would board games, representing a dedicated supporter's campaign. But they will have to forgive me when I prioritize just as with other single-minded supporters, I have a cast-iron argument for why my demand is the most urgent and important of all. The demand is this: It's essential to create a category for puzzle games.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works isn't exact; it remains highly personal, and inevitably generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. There’s a reason film award organizations avoid this approach. Yet it remains an essential concession within the realm of video games, showing incredible range they barely qualify as a single art form.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to gain proper attention, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards presently include classifications covering Action, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these award types effectively encompass many game types, allowing placement for most games within them.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears for their placement. Think about these this year’s best games, all very different: structural challenges in a particular game, fast-paced pattern recognition from another release, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. What category would fit them between these six categories? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Recognition Challenges

Numerous examples exist outstanding logic titles published annually that have no home at major award shows, if they accidentally match award groups including Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, or the intensely contested independent game categories.

  • One classic puzzle game wasn’t nominated in any category in 2014
  • Another creative title received no nominations that year
  • Popular arranging title was overlooked in 2021
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games barely qualified for small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

Frequently they represent modest productions, yet the craft of the puzzle game carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as most popular titles worldwide and have been for many years.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games competing to become most purchased experience; it additionally competes as greatest title ever. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, while interacting across multiple categories.

The Solution and Justification

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter such difficulty. You could fill five nominees engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent many worthy titles.

And to reiterate, these are games that otherwise have no home in important events. Logic title developers are working at the hard edge interactive creation, developing some of most fundamental forms of gaming itself. Just like cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
